About Greene County Habitat for Humanity

Each year, Greene County Habitat for Humanity and its volunteers build homes in partnership with future homeowners. With support and resources from the local community, they make safe, decent, and affordable housing available to Greene County families. With this support, Greene County Habitat has served 78 families and is the largest non-profit residential builder in the Lake Country.

In recent news, Greene County Habitat recently purchased twenty acres in Union Point, Georgia and has begun the development of single-family homes for qualified Habitat partner families. All Habitat families purchase homes with no-interest mortgages based on affordability. Families, who must live and/or work in Greene County for at least a year before applying must have the ability to pay a mortgage and provide “sweat equity” hours toward construction and homeownership. This is the foundation of Habitat’s successful homeownership program.
